my little sicko

Okay, here's the scoop on Wyatt. He wasn't gaining
weight so he was thrown in the hospital and subjected
to all sorts of angry mean tests. It turns out that he
has: GERD, reactive airway disease (kinda like athsma),
and today I was informed that he's allergic to milk.
soooo.....he's on like 2 inhalers, singular, and 2 anti-acid
meds. Not to mention this nasty formula that smells like
death! The kid's all sorts of drugged up and stinky.
He also gets to be put under to have an endoscopy. Fun huh.
That'll be another overnighter. Oh well, it could be tons
worse.

Hospital, Christmas, and other things

Hello blog friends. I hope you all had a wonderful
Christmas. We did. In a way I'm a little sad that it's
over. In another way I'm glad to move on.

We had quite an interesting week. On Monday, Wyatt
and I found ourselves at Children's hospital. The kid
just wasn't growing so his doctor called a GI doctor
who thought it would be a good idea to admit him. sigh.
I got there with the idea (and supplies) that we'd be
there for 24 hours.....well 3 days later they sent us home.
James was home so while he battled the other kids I got
a little vacay....well not really, but I had a lot of time to
think and ponder. So if you don't care, I'm going to
throw out a few things that crossed my mind.

1. Hospital food isn't too bad if one is congested.

2. head IV's are kinda cool.

3. I miss my bed.

4. I miss my kids.

5. I'm grateful!

The last one took my by surprise. Of all the things
to be grateful for the week of Christmas, a hospital
stay is probably not on the top ten list. I felt humble
and had a real sense of God's love for me. It was really
amazing to be the receiver of so many kindnesses and
to have so many prayers offered in our behalf. I felt
bolstered and strengthened by the service offered so
willingly by the members of our ward (aka church family).
I'm overwhelmed at the response of these people. They
had things to do and yet they brought my family meals,
babysat so that James could come out, and the ones that
couldn't were praying for us. Happily, we made it home
just in time for Christmas (the 24th). But the whole
experience reminded me of what the Christmas spirit is.
It's remembering our Savior: His birth, His life, and the
way he lived. I'm grateful I was able to remember that.

......too bad I had to be humbled and not just naturally so.

Happy boxing day folks. And thanks for sticking around.

Evy the Seven year old

Yesterday was my baby girl's birthday! Why is
it that these birthdays come faster and faster
each year? She's 7. Ya, I have a seven year old
.........and it's really weird.

Evelyn: All things sunshiny, honest, thoughtful,
kind, giving, loving, faithful, smart, helpful, trusting,
and beautiful. (can I say that?)
Ah the old sand pail on the head...those were
the days (and future black mail).

I honestly don't know why I was blessed with such
a wonderful girl. Sometimes I feel like I learn more
from her than she learns from me. She's amazing!
And I'm so grateful that she was chosen to come to
my family. Happy birthday Ev!

awww cute widdle baby

Look how big Wyatt has gotten! It's crazy
how fast they grow. One minute they're a
tiny baby the next they're a big kid pretending
to be a baby. Oie!

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving with no pictures! Ya, I totally
forgot my camera...oh well....what are you gonna do?

We had a terrible Thanksgiving: Yucky food, awful
company, and absolutely no fun at all.... (joking mom)
T day is always scrumptious and lovely. I just thought
I'd say something out of the norm. (really mom, I was
kidding.)

I have so much to be thankful for but I truly am grateful
for family. My mom, dad, and sibs and especially my own
little clan. Oh well....mush mush mush lovey lovey.

I hope you all had a fantastic T day too....full of family and
pie!

Ok, I've decided that I'm feeling pretty crafty
and slightly crazy so, on my "project blog" up
until about a week before Christmas I'm going
to be posting easy homemade gift ideas and
tutorials. I just thought I'd let you all know....
just in case.

My family

I was thinking...wouldn't it be cool to have your own
personal photographer to just follow you and your
family around and capture those elusive moments that
always seem to go away as soon as the camera comes out?
Whew...that was a mouthful! Anyway, we had our
portraits done last week and that's mostly what I wanted.
Semi posed and lots of personality!

I think I love them!

It's 5:45 in the morning and my baby has
been asleep since 7......he's still sleeping.....
and I'm sort of dying!

don't ask me why I'm awake.

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

I really don't like forwards that are
like, "if you don't send this to 10
friends your car will blow up, and your
cat will die, and you will be miserable
for the rest of your life!" Maybe it's
a hormone thing but this one kinda made
me misty....so.....here you go

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep..

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom

a photo shoot with Spencer.

We went to Evelyn's soccer game last night. It's
the first time I remembered to bring the camera.
Ask me how many pictures of Evelyn I took...ya,
pretty much none. I was, however, privileged to sit
by this weird little kid. This is how he posed for the
camera.

For some reason I'm reminded of Calvin.

It's another Pendley birthday

Miss Madelin is officially a two year old. (Never
mind that she's been acting like a two year old for a
year now!) Friday was the official day but I put off
blogging due to the plague. Pardon the cliche but,
these past two years have seriously blown by too fast!
The nice thing is that she's still extremely short so in
turn seems....a little younger? Honestly though, I still
am amazed at how much I love this little girl. I'm so
glad that she decided to grace us with her presence
2 years ago.
And just for fun here is a list of likes and dislikes.
(sorry Calley for stealing your brilliant idea)

Likes:
* Wyatt (a little too much perhaps)
* lotion, sanitizer, shampoo, or anything that
smears well
* Tinker Bell
* Tic-tacs
* Changing her clothes 20 times a day!

Dis-likes
* Sitting in her seat at the table (she'd rather
sit ON the table)
* Tamiflu (makes her puke)
* Wearing the same clothes for longer than
10 minutes
* The word "no"
* When daddy leaves

Here's to you Madelin! Love you baby girl.

Some eye candy

I'm lame and didn't take any pictures of Wyatt on
Sunday (aka: his blessing day). I know I'm a dork,
so sue me! I can't get over how much I love this little guy!
He was/is so handsome in his little git up. It's a good thing
we had him blessed on Sunday because that outfit is not
going to fit him very much longer. I give him a week!

I couldn't help posting this potbellied picture
of him. He's so chunky....in a good way of course!

How does this work?!

A lovely friend of mine snatched my 2 & 3 year
olds and the baby is asleep in the back room. So
I find myself sitting here momentarily free of children.
For the most part Wyatt fits right in. He sleeps, eats,
and poops. He really isn't too demanding, yet I'm all
up in arms about how to get back to normal. Where did
my routine go and how on Earth do I get it back?!
Ahh well, that's life right?

On a lighter note: I was able to paint and clean my
bathroom. Thank you lovely friend of mine!!

Pictures and musings

Look at my multiplicity of children! I can't tell you
how awesome it is to be the mother of all of these
little people. And it never ceases to amaze me how
much I have been able to love each new arrival.

The past week and a half have been so nice. James
took this past week off and has taken up the roll of
Mr. mom. He has been absolutely wonderful!! He's
made lunches and breakfasts, taken kids to school,
chased kids at the park, and everything in between.
He's pretty much taken over. I'm so lucky to have him!
I'm sure he'll be running back to work on Monday but
it really has been nice having him around.

On a very random tangent, check out our new neighbor!
He moved onto our deck a week ago. I like him much
better than our garden destroying groundhog even though
he's ginormous and creeps me out. Just as a reference, his
body is at least an inch long.....yea, scary!

Look what we found!!!

A fat wrinkly little boy

He cleans up so nice....

I think I'll keep him!!

Ok, maybe that was a little corny...I'll expound.

7.15 20 inches folks!! He's a bruiser....well, not really
but "cutie pie" isn't very masculine now is it?

And guess what? I totally went into labor by myself!
I coaxed the receptionist at my OB's office to get me
in yesterday so that I could discuss an induction.
Okay, so maybe I yelled at her a little...what?!

Anywho, my appointment was at 3 and I went into
labor at 4. It was kinda funny because I went to pick
up my two non-school kids from my awesome friend's
house and started contracting on her front porch. So I
left them there.

Then I was awesome and had no epidural...
ha just kidding. I wussed out, got the epidural, and then
gave birth 30 minutes later. Yah, I went too quick for it to
completely work. Oh well. Better luck next time....
if there is a next time.

Well, I suppose I will shove off and drift into the peaceful
slumber that only a hospital can provide.
(that was sarcasm by the way)

Oh yah, we decided to override the almightly blog poll and
call him Wyatt Smith. Sorry guys. I still love ya though!

Project blog

I've been sewing like mad the past little while.
Yesterday morning I woke up at 3:30 and couldn't
get back to sleep for thinking of projects I wanted
to do...so I got up and went to work! Insane much?
I know, right?! I did get some things done though
AND I actually got to see my DH before he left for
work (he leaves at 5! Crazy huh?)

Any who, the blog shop I set up earlier has been
revamped to be more of a project/tutorial blog.
It's really just for my own fun and enjoyment, but
if you're interested in checking it out I've got a link
under my "places to go" list.

What am I doing?!

Has anyone noticed the magical floating baby
recently? TWO WEEKS!! The last few days
I've had a crazy surge of nesting. You know,
the type that makes you wash walls, dust inside
the piano, and use a butter knife to scrape the
crevices of the floor boards. Last night panic finally
set in when I realized that I'm going to have yet
another bottom to wipe, more laundry, and chaos.
Don't get me wrong, I love being a mom and I
adore my children but I'm terrified! Sorry to unload
on all of you but I thought I should get it out of my
system. Thanks and wish me luck!

She doesn't need a baby shower...or does she?

So even though I'm having my fifth, my awesome
church family is of the opinion that every baby
deserves a party. I really didn't need anything
because like I mentioned before this is my fifth!!
Instead, they threw me and my preggo friend a
"fill the freezer" shower. How great is that?! So
now, my used to be empty freezer is full of dinners.

I'm starting to feel crunched for time now. And my
husband is in serious denial! When I mentioned that
we only had 3 1/2 weeks left he sort of freaked out.
Uh...yeah, I'm not getting huge because of gas! (He
lovingly likes to tease that I'm just bloated) I'm sure
you all wanted to know that. :) Oh well, I've got some
serious cleaning and reorganizing to do....bring on the
nesting!

Give away

My auntie's sis' in law has this cool blog called
My Frugal Lifestyle. There are some really great
things on there. Currently a friend of hers is
sponsoring a Scentsy give away. I myself adore
Scentsy and I think you all should check it out.
(yeah, I'm hoping to win, so sue me!)

Bib tutorial

So, I've decided to start doing some tutorials
on this new blog that I started. I just posted
one for anyone interested. Click here to check
it out. Maybe this is dumb but I was in desperate
need of some of these!

And...they're off!

The girls started school on Monday (technically
Thursday but I'm not counting last week)
For those of you who didn't know, our school
is year round. So only 6 weeks of summer. To
tell you the truth, 6 weeks was all they could
handle!

It's so weird that Caitlin is in kindergarten now.
She was only 22 months old when we moved here.
And now......I did get a little choked up this morning
watching her walk into school by herself...well, Ev was
there too but I'm over that now. I feel like my life is
perma-fastforward.

On a side note, do you know what I just realized? I'm
going to be a mom of 5 in less than 5 weeks!!! I'm sort
of freaking out about it. I guess it'll be okay...right?

Bloggy shop thing

For some reason I have a lot of pent up creative
juices flowing. So I set up a blog shop. I pretty much
have no idea what I'm doing so if any of you have tips
I sure would enjoy the feed back. I really enjoy sewing
and I felt like I needed an outlet (of sorts), but seriously
I don't need most of what I'm doing hence the blog shop!
Don't laugh....it's not nice. :)
