Hospital, Christmas, and other things

Hello blog friends. I hope you all had a wonderful
Christmas. We did. In a way I'm a little sad that it's
over. In another way I'm glad to move on.

We had quite an interesting week. On Monday, Wyatt
and I found ourselves at Children's hospital. The kid
just wasn't growing so his doctor called a GI doctor
who thought it would be a good idea to admit him. sigh.
I got there with the idea (and supplies) that we'd be
there for 24 hours.....well 3 days later they sent us home.
James was home so while he battled the other kids I got
a little vacay....well not really, but I had a lot of time to
think and ponder. So if you don't care, I'm going to
throw out a few things that crossed my mind.

1. Hospital food isn't too bad if one is congested.

2. head IV's are kinda cool.

3. I miss my bed.

4. I miss my kids.

5. I'm grateful!

The last one took my by surprise. Of all the things
to be grateful for the week of Christmas, a hospital
stay is probably not on the top ten list. I felt humble
and had a real sense of God's love for me. It was really
amazing to be the receiver of so many kindnesses and
to have so many prayers offered in our behalf. I felt
bolstered and strengthened by the service offered so
willingly by the members of our ward (aka church family).
I'm overwhelmed at the response of these people. They
had things to do and yet they brought my family meals,
babysat so that James could come out, and the ones that
couldn't were praying for us. Happily, we made it home
just in time for Christmas (the 24th). But the whole
experience reminded me of what the Christmas spirit is.
It's remembering our Savior: His birth, His life, and the
way he lived. I'm grateful I was able to remember that.

......too bad I had to be humbled and not just naturally so.

Happy boxing day folks. And thanks for sticking around.
